The Bleyer Balboa has a really vintage feel. It's a brown and beige lace-up shoe. The beige canvas uppers stand out distinctively against the cleanly cut brown leather giving them a unique look. The Bleyer sole offers excellent sure-footedness for dancers, whilst other sole options are available as a custom option.

The Bleyer Balboa is a high quality, lace-up shoe with matt brown leather and beige canvas uppers on the standard product.

Customise the Bleyer Balboa with an alternative colour by picking an alternative to the brown! Note that the canvas section can only be selected as beige.

The Bleyer Balboa is produced a the cell rubber sole as standard, although the style used in previous years (Moulded Arch) is being phased out and replaced with a new cell rubber sole in sizes 42-50. The White EVA Sole with a heel has also been used in the interim so if the heel type is important to you please pay attention when placing your order or get in touch with us in advance.  If you prefer a different sole, then consider making a custom order.

The New Cell Rubber Sole standard on size 42-50

Just like its predecessor, the cell rubber used on the new style sole has the appearance of hard plastic. This type of sole is hardwearing and ideal for outdoor dancing and it can easily be wiped down after use if you do pick up and mud or dust. The small heel is a more typical shape and design of a heel that you would find on a mans street shoe compared to the Moulded Arch style. The cell rubber on the new sole has a dimpled effect making it one of the most sure-footed options for dancers. Being made from cell rubber also makes them vegan friendly.

The Classic Moulded Arch Sole standard on size 38-41

The Classic soles are made from cell rubber with a molded heel for great arch support. The material used is a high-tech innovation that gives you the ideal combination of light yet hardwearing soles for dancing. The look and feel of this sole type is at odds with most people’s idea of a rubber sole, it seems like hard plastic. Dancing on this sole offers slightly more grip and a more sure-footed feel than the other Bleyer composite soles (except the non-slip sole) or leather soles. This sole will tolerate being worn outdoors, and can be wiped down ready for dancing. These soles are Vegan friendly.

Bleyer Balboa are available as standard in Bleyer size 39 to 48 (covering UK 5 to 11.5). The shoes themselves are fitted on the Mens last and so they are one of the widest fitting Bleyer shoes. They fit similar to the Bleyer Hepcat and Bleyer Charleston and wider than shoes produced on unisex lasts such as the Bleyer Rock'n'Roll and Bleyer Boogie Woogie. Bleyer shoes are marked with European sizes and they tend to fit approximately one size small compared to typical European sizes. So, for example if you normally wear a European 42 you would probably want a Bleyer 43.

Bleyer sizes are listed first in our drop-down options. Bleyer sizes tend to be consistent across the full product range so if you know your "Bleyer size", please select that option. We have used our experience to translate the Bleyer sizes to other commonly used sizing systems. These translations are for guidance and cannot be treated as a guarantee of good fit. A returns policy is in place should replacements be required. As a UK based retailer, our Bleyer/UK size translations are most thoroughly tested.

Due to the different sizing systems there are some, but not many, UK and US half sizes available. This is simply as a result of the translations, so if your UK/US foot size is a half size that is not listed we would normally suggest that you select the next half size larger. Although we are confident that these translations work for most people, this information is not a guarantee and should be used as a guide only.
